Im Looking Into Buying A Backhoe, What To Watch Out For??

There is somone selling a backhoe down the street it looks pretty good i dont know the year, modle or brand. the owner wasint home and it hase a fresh coat of paint on everything so thers no logos or tags. i live on a farm and own a farmall 656. what should i ask and look out for when talking to the seller. Like if they changed the oil, greased fitings every year, tuned it up, airfilter, hidraulic oil ext… what thinks should i look at carfully thanks

    Have him start it and watch him operate it.look for loose pins and ask him to move it and look at the wheels for loose wiggles, let it run till its completely warm and look for leaks.Then you drive and operate it to search for broke or uncommen looking wears such as knobs brakes footpegs and body damage.Small leaks are ok if its 1980 or newer because parts arent that bad but be sure to have a open pocketbook to keep it up and running dont let it sit.

    It might be great; but usually one doesn’t piant over something that looks alright to begin with. Probably is hiding something that would not like!
